Discover the world of wild herbs: Workshop at Bruchsee!
On June 20, 2025, Heppenheim will be the meeting place for nature lovers, as the “Wild Herbs” workshop as part of the “Bruchsee Nature Explorers” program is entering its next round. Organized by the city of Heppenheim and the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park, the offer is aimed primarily at families with primary school children. Education for sustainable development, or ESD for short, is the focus here. The first workshops were already a complete success; In May, families discovered the exciting world of insects under the guidance of ranger Sindy Grambow. A great experience that leaves you wanting more!
The current workshop on wild herbs is led by Dorisa Winkenbach from ARTEMIS. In addition to collecting wild herbs, participants can also feel their smells, tastes and surfaces. A real highlight will certainly be the tasting of wild herbs on a sandwich, and the children have the opportunity to create their own herb magic wand. If you haven't registered yet, you should hurry up: there are only a few places left! Registrations can be made directly from Dorisa Winkenbach artemis@winkenbach.net or by calling 0174-4163123.
Variety of offers
But that's not all! The next workshop will take place on August 22, 2025 and will focus on “Birds and Amphibians”. Günther Hagemeister from NABU Heppenheim will guide the participants through the exciting world of sounders and amphibians. Registrations for this are available at guenther_hagemeister@web.de or by phone on 0176 62287988. And don't forget the final workshop on the topic of "forest", which will take place on September 19, 2025 with forester Thomas Schumacher. Registrations are also available here t.schumacher@stadt.heppenheim.de or 06252 13 1254 welcome.
The special thing about these workshops is not only that participation is free - although costs for materials may apply on site - but also the idyllic meeting point at the newly designed barbecue areas at Bruchsee, which were once known as a bird park. Recreation and education combine perfectly here.
Focus on sustainable development
The workshops are not only a great opportunity to get to know nature in a playful way, but also an important contribution to promoting nature and environmental education, which should begin at primary school age. How House of Nature emphasizes, this promotes awareness of environmental and nature conservation. Encounters in nature create key experiences for children and young people that accompany them throughout their lives.
So if you are looking for the adventure of nature and at the same time want to learn something about the local flora, you will find the perfect opportunity in Heppenheim. Further information is available on the city's homepage geo-naturpark.net.
