Scheidental Youth Space: Finally a retreat for young people again!

There is reason to be happy in Scheidental: the youth room has been open again since the 2024 summer holidays. After a long break during the Corona period, 13 young people between the ages of 12 and 16 got involved in bringing back this retreat for themselves and their friends. Their concern was clear: They wanted a place where they could relax after a strenuous week at school and take on responsibility. There should be a relaxed atmosphere here that offers space for free development, which is important not only for the young people themselves but for the entire community.

At the reopening, mayor Nico Bader and local councilor Steffi Galm stood by the young people and accompanied the entire process. There was also support from district youth officer Rainer Wirth, who presented a brand new dart board to make the celebration even more special. [Nokzeit] reports that in addition to darts, the youth room also offers many other leisure activities, including billiards, table football, board games and sports such as football and basketball.

A place of meeting

Such youth centers not only promote social interaction among young people, they are also a safe place for young people to meet and spend their free time. According to information from [Schullist], the offerings in these centers are often varied and range from creative workshops to sports opportunities to special events that awaken a sense of community and promote engagement.

The youth room's regular opening hours are Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Those interested have the opportunity to join a WhatsApp group to receive information about special opening times. Thanks also go to the sponsors who supported this initiative, including the Mudau Community Foundation as well as the Jugendhilfe Mosbach e.V. association and the Mosca company, who provided help with the 2024 project competition.

Overall, the revival of the youth space in Scheidental shows how valuable it is to offer young people a space in which they can meet, play and learn. With the support of adults and the strong initiative of the young people themselves, a place has been created where community is very important and which will certainly provide many beautiful moments in the future. According to the young people's feedback, it is exactly what they wanted: a place where they feel comfortable and can enjoy a break, especially in a fast-paced time like today.

The Scheidental youth area is gently and carefully blossoming again, and the chances for a lively youth culture in the region are excellent.
