Monnem Pride 2025: Big festival for diversity and cohesion in Mannheim!

On Saturday, July 11, 2025, the largest pride event in the Rhein-Neckar region will take place in Mannheim: Monnem Pride. The event is opened at the sheep pasture at 1 p.m. with a demonstration that leads over well -known places such as the old Messsplatz, the Kurpfalzbrücke and the planks. The organizers from the Queeren Center Mannheim have decided to become a motto "Together one-Intersectional.antifascist.queer", which underlines the broad support of the LGBTQI*community and its allies. Almost fifty groups, companies and initiatives have announced their participation, which is a strong expression of solidarity and diversity.

In the afternoon, the city is revived by a colorful street festival on the old Messsplatz and the Neckarwiese. From 4 p.m. there will be live performances and DJ sets with a total of ten acts on two stages. A highlight are the techno events as well as rousing drag shows and ballroom dance deposits. In a particularly symbolic act, the Evangelical and Catholic Church will also be there for the second time. They implement the motto "Love is good for the soul" and prepare a theme car and an oasis of peace in the city church for queer people.

security concept and traffic impairments

To ensure the security of all participants: inside, a comprehensive security concept was developed. Among other things, this includes the blockade of the access roads with trucks and cars as well as rades that are supposed to ensure security. An awareness team and professional security personnel will also be on site to provide support if necessary. For drivers and local public transport, traffic impairments in downtown Mannheim are expected during the event, since buses and trams have to be diverted.

After the demolition of the Monnem Pride 2023 due to a thunderstorm, the community hopes for better weather and a successful event this year. The importance of these pride events should not be underestimated. If you think of the story, we see that the Pride parades, or Christopher Street Day (CSD), are characterized by a long struggle for equality and visibility. As [Deutschlandfunk Kultur] (https://www.deutschlandfunkkultur.de/queer-cs- csd-pride- equal right-wing German-history-100.html) emphasizes, discrimination and persecution of people due to their gender identity or sexual orientation are still an urgent problem. Current statistics show an increase in queer -anti -querean crimes in Germany, which makes the need for events such as Monnem Pride all the more urgent.

a narrow balance and the way to the future

The struggle for the rights of the LGBTQI*community is far from over. Historical reviews of the queer rights in Germany, starting with pioneers like Karl Heinrich Ulrichs and Magnus Hirschfeld, illustrate how hard these fighters have worked for the rights of their descendants. In the past two decades, some laws have been passed on how marriage for everyone in 2017 or the self-determination law in 2024. But historians warn that the achievements cannot be considered for granted, because the increase in right groups and attacks on queer events show that it still needs political struggle and solidarity to protect the rights of LGBTQI*community.
