Full closure of the L514: renovation work starts on June 23rd!

In Baden-Württemberg, state road 514 is undergoing extensive renovation. This will take place from Erfeld via Courtstetten in the direction of Eubigheim and will begin on June 23, 2025, with expected completion on July 25, 2025. The road will be completely closed during the entire work, which will have a significant impact on the traffic situation. The reason for this extensive measure is the significant damage to the roadway caused by aging and high traffic loads. Cracks, chips and settlements require extensive maintenance, such as RP Baden-Württemberg reported.

The construction work will be divided into two construction phases. The first section extends from the town exit of Erfeld to the “Bergstrasse” entrance in Courtstetten, while the second section leads from the town exit of Courtstetten, near the “Linsler” carpentry shop, to across the state border into the Main-Tauber district. To ensure safety during work, full closures are essential. During the renovation, the responsible authorities have set up diversions that are signposted accordingly.

Detour and traffic management

During the first construction phase, which lasts until July 8, 2025, traffic from Hardheim will be rerouted to Courtstetten via Höpfingen, Walldürn and Altheim. In the second construction phase, which runs between July 8th and 25th, traffic will route from Bretzingen via Courtstetten, Altheim, Sindolsheim, Rosenberg and Berolzheim to Eubigheim. Traffic management has set itself the goal of making diversion traffic as smooth as possible in order to minimize traffic jams and not place undue burden on residents.

The total costs for the renovation work amount to around 1.2 million euros, which will be borne by the state of Baden-Württemberg. Roads are subject to ongoing maintenance management, meaning that such measures are necessary to keep the infrastructure functional in the long term. In Germany, over 120,000 vehicles are on the roads every day, which makes regular maintenance and repairs essential. As the BMVI clarifies, the road surfaces and structures must be continuously monitored and maintained if necessary in order to avoid consequential damage.
