Scandal in the Hohenlohe district: Investigations against dairy farmers for cruelty to animals!

Bretzfeld, Deutschland - The Heilbronn public prosecutor has initiated investigations against a dairy farmer from Bretzfeld in the Hohenlohe district. This measure takes place after a criminal complaint by the Aninova animal rights organization due to alleged cruelty to animals. According to SWR it is in the room that the farmer is said to have violated the animal protection law.

The dairy farmer, member of the Hohenloher Molkerei cooperative, faces serious allegations. Aninova has published images from a company that shows how around 50 cows are kept in chains all year round. This type of animal husbandry is still legally permissible, but should be prohibited gradually within ten years. Jan Peifer, CEO of Aninova, emphasizes that the animals cannot turn around, which significantly restricts their freedom of movement.

grievances in the stable

In addition to the tethering, there are serious concerns about the hygienic conditions in the barn. During a control by the Veterinary Office of Künzelsau in March, low to medium -sized defects were found, which included claws for one of the cows, among other things. The office has already issued requirements to improve the situation. The Schwäbisch Hall dairy, which relates to the milk from this company, has also announced that it has no longer assumed milk until the allegations have been clarified.

The Hohenloher Molkerei cooperative has declared that it wants to fully inform the allegations and will temporarily leave the contracts with the dairy farmer. It can be expected that the ongoing investigation by the public prosecutor's office will bring light into the dark in order to bring the tiresome topic of tethering on the table.

Legal location of the tethering

In 2020, around 11.3 million cattle were held in Germany, including around 4 million dairy cows. Some of these animals live in ties, which means that they are fixed by necklaces or neck tubes and only have minimal movement space. According to Tasso this has a serious impact on the well -being of the animals, since their natural behaviors are severely restricted.

The discussion about tieding is also heated by the criticism of animal welfare organizations and experts, which repeatedly indicate the need for behavioral accommodation. There are also legal changes that could provide improvement in animal husbandry in the future.

The situation in the affected company once again shows that animal husbandry is about economic interests and ethical considerations. The case will have to be observed closely by the public and the responsible authorities.
