Audi A6 Sedan 2025: Production in Neckarsulm is booming!

At the Audi location in Neckarsulm, including the Böllinger Höfe in Heilbronn, production is running at full speed. From January to September 2025, an impressive 144,122 vehicles were manufactured here, which corresponds to an impressive increase of 49.2% compared to the previous year. Production currently takes place in three shifts for the popular A5 and A6 models, while the A8 model and the E-Tron GT electric car are produced in one shift. The first examples of the new A6 sedans were released in the summer and are priced from 55,500 euros.

The A6 Sedan is a true dream car almost five meters long and impresses with a drag coefficient of 0.23 - the best value of all production models with combustion engines in Audi's history. The diesel models are particularly noteworthy: the 2.0 TDI four-cylinder has 150 kW or 204 hp and is available from 59,300 euros. The V6 TDI with 220 kW or 299 hp is available from 68,500 euros. In the future, this V6 TDI can run on HVO fuel (hydrogenated vegetable oil), enabling CO₂ savings of 70 to 95% compared to conventional diesel. Voice reports that ...

Fuel of the future

Audi is pursuing a clear goal with its “Vorsprung 2030” strategy: from 2026, new models worldwide will come onto the market exclusively with electric drives. These efforts are intended to help make mobility CO2-neutral. At the same time, the existing portfolio of combustion engines is being optimized to reduce emissions. This includes technical adaptation to use sustainable fuels such as HVO, which are obtained from used cooking oil and agricultural residues. HVO not only ensures more environmentally friendly combustion, but also significantly lower CO₂ emissions. Audi Mediacenter reports that ...

But what about availability? HVO diesel can already be found at over 600 gas stations in Europe, especially in Scandinavia. There are currently only a few gas stations in Germany, but the trend is increasing. The release of HVO for various Audi diesel engines has been in place since mid-February 2022 and also affects the A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q7 and Q8 series.

Technical innovations

The Audi developers have already installed intelligent systems today. The four-cylinder engines are equipped with PHEV plus technology. This includes, among other things, a 48-volt battery that supports the combustion engine, as well as a drive train generator (TSG) for recuperating energy and for pure electric drive on short distances. A lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 1.7 kWh makes it possible to drive in the test with a consumption of just 6 liters and CO₂ emissions of 159 g/km.

In addition to fuel optimization, the A6 Sedan not only offers high stability and low noise levels, but also options such as air suspension and all-wheel steering to improve ride comfort and maneuverability. This makes the vehicle not only an eye-catcher, but also a statement for sustainable mobility and innovation.

It remains exciting to see how Audi and the Volkswagen Group will advance the development of sustainable fuels in order to make the mobility of the future even more environmentally friendly. The signs point to progress, and the latest models show that Audi has a good hand for the challenges of the next few years.
