Construction work in Heidelberg: Bus and train meet massive diversions!

In Heidelberg, things will soon go down! From Monday, July 7th to Friday, July 11th, and in the following week, from Monday, July 14th to Friday, July 18, 2025, there are extensive work to install a new guide plant on Bergheimer Strasse. These measures take place from 10 p.m. to 4:15 a.m. and have a noticeable impact on the tram and bus traffic of Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV)-a change that many users should remember!

How the RNZ , there are particularly changes in lines 21, 26 and 36 and the night lines, which are above all 10 p.m. Lines 21 and 26 journeys have to be temporarily diverted and end at new stops, while some familiar stations such as the adult education center, Campus Bergheim and the old indoor pool are simply no longer approached.

shifting and new stops

At night, line 21 will start and end, for example, at the depot, with the Seegarten and Bergheim campus. Line 26 changes your route between the Czerny Bridge and Bismarckplatz. Alternative stops come into play again, such as the main train station and the city library. This detour also affects bus traffic, especially line 36, which is also redirected from the depot to Bismarckplatz and includes additional stations.

The MoOnliner 2 and 5 night lines are also affected. Where otherwise the passengers could enjoy the departure, it is now said: Change and stop at new stops! Fewer stages, but also less detours, you think. But for many users, that means either to accept compromises in the routine or to reorient themselves.

the look ahead

Change to public transport offers is a central point in the current debate of change of mobility. As the BUND , many cities and municipalities are faced with the challenge of improving local public transport in the long term. A long-awaited topic is the following offers for the 9-euro ticket, which has been a much discussed topic in recent months. Suggestions, such as a 365 euro annual ticket, bring a breath of fresh air to the considerations of public transport pricing policy.

The diversions in Heidelberg are therefore not only a current challenge, but also part of the large whole that affects mobility in cities and their development. It is to be hoped that the work will take place quickly and smoothly so that the RNV can soon offer high flexibility and accessibility. For all commuters and after -work drivers, it is now said: well informed and prepared!
