800 years of Schmiden: Experience historical festival and living history!

In the coming year, the Schmiden district will celebrate a very special event in Fellbach: 800 years of history! From July 11th to 13th, 2025, the population is invited to experience the development and the formative history of the district up close in the “Schmidener Summer”. This is reported by the As part of the anniversary, a large number of historical personalities from different epochs will appear and give insights into life, work and faith in Schmiden over the centuries. An interesting facet of Schmidens' history is the Herzog family. She worked as a schoolmaster in Schmiden for over five generations. Their striking half -timbered building, today the Bürkle shoe store, is still reminiscent of this time when the schoolmaster's office traditionally passed the son from the father.

The series "Funds from the City Archives", which was founded as part of the 900th anniversary of Fellbach, is also continued to match the anniversary. A special object in Fellbach's history is presented every two weeks. In episode 4, historical postcards from Schmiden focus. The first postcards were created around 1897 when Schmiden was still an independent parish village in the Kingdom of Württemberg. These postcards show the change from a farming village to an urban part of Fellbach and document valuable insights into history.
