Kornwestheim steps into the pedals: City cycles start in July!

Kornwestheim, Deutschland - Kornwestheim steps into the pedals again! The city has decided to participate in the nationwide competition of city bikes, which takes place from July 1 to 21, 2025. The initiative pursues the goal of further strengthening cycling, promoting the health of the citizens: to promote inside and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. Who would have thought that every kilometer that the participants cover on the bike counts not only for their own well -being, but also for the environment?

An important part of the city cycling is the possibility to join teams or to found a team themselves. Interested parties can easily register on www.stadtradeln.de . In Kornwestheim you can look back on the previous year when 435 active cyclists covered a total of 95,446 kilometers and thus saved a respectable 15,844 kilograms of CO₂. It should be emphasized that 36 employees of the city administration cycled 5,916 kilometers and avoided 982.1 kilograms of CO₂.

free bike check for everyone!

To prepare for the competition, a free “Radcheck” will take place on Holzgrundplatz on June 27, 2025. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., specialists are available to check the traffic suitability of the bicycles, carry out smaller repairs and give valuable tips. So nobody stays on the track with a flat tire!

The city cycling is an action by the climate alliance that calls for participation throughout Germany. "Cycling jointly demonstrates the clear need for better cycling infrastructure," explains a spokesman for the initiative. The state of Baden-Württemberg supports the participation of municipalities by taking over the registration fees and helps with the organization.

a sustainable step into the future

This initiative not only brings health benefits, but can also make a decisive contribution to climate protection. According to a study, greenhouse gas emissions in Germany could be reduced by 34% by 2035. The General Deutsche Bahrrad-Club e.V. (ADFC) therefore calls for an "inviting infrastructure" for cyclists: inside to create safer conditions for cycling.

The differences in cycling between Germany and other European countries are striking. While countries such as the Netherlands and Denmark reach a bicycle traffic share of over 40%, Germany is only 13%. Political support and the expansion of the infrastructure are crucial to improve these numbers. According to Frank Masurat, the federal chairman of the ADFC, the bicycle should become the new gold standard for everyday mobility.

Pedale together to promote climate protection and quality of life-that is the message that Kornwestheim and its city cycling project bring out into the world.
