Public tour in the Kornhaus: Discover the renovation!
In the municipal museum in the Kornhaus something is happening! On the occasion of the ongoing renovation work, those responsible invite you to an exciting tour on Saturday, August 2, 2025. At 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., architect Professor Peter Cheret will lead the participants through the already gutted interiors of the historic warehouse. These tours offer a unique way to get to know the architectural concept and the planned renovation measures. Kirchheim Teck reports that the focus is particularly on the interaction between the massive outer walls and the woodwork.
The design comes from the Stuttgart working group "Cheret Bozic Architects and Weidner Händle Atelier", which won the corresponding competition in 2019. The aim of the renovation is to remove disturbing modern buildings and to restore the original room impression of the former warehouse. Professor Cheret is expected to reveal more interesting information about the design and the materials used during the tour. However, if you want to take part in the event, you should hurry: the places are limited to 12 people, and registration is required by August 1, 2025. Participation is possible from the age of 18 and is done at your own responsibility. In addition, the city expressly points out that solid footwear with a solid sole is a must. The weather -appropriate clothing is also advisable due to the construction site, because the tours take place in a non -barrier -free area. Interested parties can either register by email or by phone-the contact details can be found on the museum's website. In February 2025, the extensive renovation and renovation work on the Kornhaus begins, as is mentioned on the city's side. The first public tour in the new Kornhaus took place on January 25, 2025, in which Professor Cheret introduced the participants into the renovation measures and gave initial insights into the structural project. This early event has already sparked great interest and shows how important the Kornhaus is for the local community. The Stuttgart working group attached great importance to the fact that only minor interventions are carried out in the existing structure in order to preserve the historical character of the house. The city of Kirchheim under Teck places great emphasis on transparency and citizen participation and invites everyone interested to become part of this special experience. So if a good knack for architecture and history is required, then why not be right on the next tour in the Kornhaus? Details for registration and participation
