Pilgrimage under the concrete: Path of the miracles in Sindelfingen!

A remarkable artistic experiment is currently being presented in Sindelfingen: the choir dance theater project "Path of Miracles-Path of Miracles". This innovative performance celebrated its premiere in the Martinskirche in the spring and took place as part of the "Empty Church" event. Now the performance is drawn to the underground car park of the Gottlieb-Daimler School II, where it will be listed again as part of the 6th Biennale in Sindelfingen. Several performances are planned by July 26, and the topic of the Biennale is "freedom and responsibility".

The move from the sacred space to a profane car storage room could hardly be more extraordinary. The new performance location was selected by Cultural Office Markus Nau and Daniel Tepper, not least because of the unique acoustics of the concrete structure of the underground car park. This offers an exciting backdrop for modern music and expressive dance and choir singing.

a total artistic work of art

The musical direction is responsible for the district cantor Daniel Tepper, while the impressive dance ideas of the Andas ensemble of the Sindelfingen Music School are performed. The choreographies come from Alicia Jehle, Olivia Musleh and Monika Heber-Knobloch. The costumes were designed by Andrea Broda and the introductory texts come from Ingo Sika.

Musically, “Path of Miracles” is shaped by Joby Talbot and describes four stations of a fictional pilgrimage. An intensive focus is on the soul states of the pilgrims - from challenges to divine support to longing and confidence. In a special experience, the audience moved to the individual stations of the performance, which significantly increased the interactivity and sense of community during the 75-minute performance.

The importance of the environment

The old underground car park with its classic cars, which are there as a stummer witness of transience and resistance, reinforces the atmosphere of the performance. Due to the astonishing sound in this unconventional space, the complex rhythms and sound areas of modern music are particularly alive. At the last performance, 250 spectators were present who could enjoy the unique interaction of lighting technology, singing and dance to the fullest.

The Biennale not only offers "Path of Miracles", but also a number of other events, including theater performances and the Carara short film festival. As you can see, Sindelfingen has a lively and inviting cultural scene that is constantly being reinvented and shapes the local character.
