International diversity in Sindelfingen: Street festival inspires despite conflicts!
Sindelfingen, Deutschland - Last weekend the bear was going on again in Sindelfingen! The 47. International street festival attracted numerous visitors and offered a colorful range of international specialties, music and dance performances. From June 13th to 15th, the city turned into a land of milk and honey in cultures, whereby the topic of diversity and common sense was very important. Mayor Dr. Bernd Vöhringer opened the festival on June 13th, for the last time, since the flag will be handed over to his successor Markus Kleemann next year.
In bright sunshine and a good mood, the guests experienced the festivities that were traditionally initiated in the town hall by a partnership evening on June 12th. The place of the partner cities in Ziegelstraße/corner of Planiestraße presented itself with stands and performances by the partner cities of Corseil-Essonnes, Chelm, Dronfield, Györ, Schaffhausen, Sondrio and Torgau. Visitors were able to enjoy international delicacies from all over the world and have different music groups talked.
highlights of the festival
The stage program was well filled: musicians like "Fire Fingers" and the Royal Sonesta jazz band created a great atmosphere. Dance performances and vocals brought additional color to the event. This not only caused variety, but also a feeling of belonging together, which is particularly important in the current political situation.
However, there were some tensions in advance, especially between the organizer and the Portuguese association, which could not cloud the overall impression of the festival. The city administration ensured that the journey went as easily as possible, among other things with a special inspection that stops at several stops. However, visitors were asked not to carry large bags or backpacks to make access easier.
special features at the street festival
Another aspect that made the event unique was the 30th anniversary of the ISPAS e.V., which was celebrated with various activities. Despite the festive atmosphere, the city museums were closed during the festival, and some streets in the festival were closed, which made it difficult for drivers to travel. The underground car park marketplace was not an arrival, and the weekly market was moved to Vaihinger Strasse.
The positive response to the street festival shows how important such events are for the interaction of cultures. Similar to "Limitless" festival in Nuremberg , which has been celebrated since 2003 and aims to bring the partner cities closer to the citizens, the intercultural encounter was promoted in Sindelfingen and awareness of the different cultures sharpened.
Overall, the international street festival was a resounding success and left permanent impressions. The anticipation for the next year, with Markus Kleemann as a new mayor, is already tangible and gives hope for an equally colorful and peaceful event.
