Baden-Württemberg: Two new rescue helicopter locations planned!
In the country of pretzels and wine there is news from air rescue. Baden-Württemberg has set itself great goals: The number of rescue helicopter locations is to be increased from eight to ten. The reason for this is the results of a structural and needs analysis that was created in 2020 by the Institute for Emergency Medicine and Medical Management at the University of Munich. As the State Gazette are also relocated, which does not remain without protests.
A significant move is imminent: The rescue helicopter "Christoph 41" moves from Leonberg to the BG Clinic in Tübingen, where a new landing site is to be built in January 2026. A platform with a hangar is planned, which is throne at a lofty 15 meters above the patient garden. The investment costs amount to 32 million euros. During the construction period, however, the old landing site remains in operation, which is indispensable for emergency care.
locations in upheaval
Another plan provides for the laying of "Christoph 45" from Friedrichshafen to Deggenhausertal-Wittenhofen. But it doesn't get that easy: In the meantime, it has been decided that "Christoph 45" should stay in Friedrichshafen. The helicopter has been stationed there for over 40 years and the supply relevant to care was considered to optimize the air rescue in the hinterland of Lake Constance. Now the Ministry of the Interior is looking for an alternative location in the western district of Ravensburg.
The municipality of Deggenhausertal would like to build a floor -bound rescue station in parallel to the air rescue station. The area committee for the emergency services in Bodensee-Oberschwaben is now on the train, but an expert opinion is still pending.
new perspectives for air rescue
In order to secure air rescue, two new locations are built: one in Lahr in the Ortenaukreis and another in the Ravenstein area in the Neckar-Odenwald district. These new locations should significantly improve the supply in their respective regions. The location in Ravenstein in particular will be important for the areas of Heilbronn, Neckar-Odenwald, Hohenlohe and Schwäbisch Hall. Also in the Ortenaukreis, where the air rescue in the northern Black Forest is expanded, this measure will have the highest priority, according to Baden-Württemberg in an official message that on Baden-wuerttemberg.de can be read.
Another landing site will be built at the St. Vincentius clinics in Karlsruhe, while the reverting of "Christoph 43" is postponed due to building damage. In addition, the location in Stuttgart/Pattonville will soon be switched to 24-hour readiness.
air rescue in change
The expansion and optimization of the air rescue are a sign of the high priority that the emergency services in Baden-Württemberg enjoy. Surveys show that the population is dependent on quick and reliable medical care. The air rescue complements the conventional soil rescue service, but does not replace it. In Europe, too, the standards and technologies in the air rescue are of immense importance. The emergency helicopter information provides valuable information about the existing stations and their possible uses.
Whatever the plans develop, one thing is certain: the sky over Baden-Württemberg is still well guarded-by committed pilots, emergency doctors and above all the indispensable rescue helicopter.
