In Böblingen, an interactive play causes a stir that not only maintains, but also actively incorporates the audience into the plot. On July 11, 2025, the play celebrates its premiere on the Böblinger marketplace under the title "Abbess or Magd - decisions make history". The staging, which is led by Tobias Ballnus and Tanja Frank, was created in collaboration with Lea Wegner, the head of the Peasant War Museum. Although the scenes are not historically occupied, they are plausible and offer insights into the need of the farmers and the monastery duty of care, while in the background the demands for facilitating taxes and the end of serfdom are discussed. The actors are on stage in medieval clothes, with abbess Christina in Nonnenhabit and farmers to be seen in punk look.

Another view of the peasant war

parallel to the performance in Böblingen, the drama "If not today, when" by Franz Xaver Ott in Count Zeppelin-Haus in Friedrichshafen is performed. The premiere took place on May 17, 2025 and the piece also addressed the uprising of the farmers from 1525 against nobility, imperial cities and clergy. It is staged by the Theater lindenhof and illuminates the cleavement between the privileged and the "common man" as well as the "twelve articles", which as early demands for human and freedom Europe apply. The piece is listed in several cities, including Stuttgart and Reutlingen.

In order to deepen the understanding of the historical context, the piece informs the viewers comprehensively about the topic of the peasant war and the theological debates of the reformers. The Weingarten Treaty is also discussed, which deepens the commitment of a better understanding of the situation at that time.

Another highlight is the open-air spectacle "1525-peasant war" on the open-air stage in Altusried, which takes place from June 14 to August 17, 2025. There, more than 500 participants, horses and pyrotechnics will be used to fill the stage with a fictional action in which the focus is on three sisters. Here, too, the topic of freedom and justice is treated, and in the sense of the time, the spectacle will not only entertain the spectators, but will also bring in contact with the historical circumstances, informs Allgäu .
