Bridges in Dagersheim: Identity creators are now being torn down!
In Dagersheim, a suburb of Böblingen, things are getting down to business: the four old wooden bridges over the Schwippe have been torn down. These bridges had suffered greatly over the years and had long since passed their best condition. As the Stuttgart News report, the first decision was made to replace the bridge at the village square. Mayor Hendrik Queck emphasizes the importance of these bridges for the identity of Dagersheim, as they not only offer transport connections, but also shape the townscape.
Another bridge came under the demolition hammer this week - the third of four planned new buildings had to go. The discussion about the condition of the bridges is far from over. The bridge on Ostelsheimer Straße will follow on Monday, June 16th. The condition of these bridges has been more than worrying over the last few years, no matter what District newspaper Böblinger Bote confirmed.
New construction projects and funding
But what about the future of bridges? There is currently no specific schedule for the renewal of the bridges that connect Dagersheim. They are positioned at the following locations: at the cemetery, at the district office, at the market square and on Ostelsheimer Straße. Overall, these bridges shape the townscape and character of the district.
A ray of hope could be the support from the state of Baden-Württemberg, which is provided through the “Municipal Road Construction” funding program. This has already been granted in similar projects such as the Schiller Bridge in Baden-Baden and the Economic Road Bridge in Lichtenau, as the information from Tobias Wald show. This year, the state has made a total of 174 million euros available for 85 new projects, with a focus on bridge renovations and the redesign of town centers.
The bridges in Dagersheim are part of a broad effort to maintain and modernize the municipal infrastructure. Citizens can only hope that a decision will be made soon as to what will happen next, because it is clear that there is still a lot to do, both for those responsible and for the residents.
