Karlsruhe: Record promotion for fire brigades with 18 million euros!

Baden-Württemberg is a strong sign for its fire brigades: The district of Karlsruhe can look forward to promoting impressive around 18 million euros in 2025. This emerges from a current communication from the regional council, which underlines the importance of this support for the economic and regional security of the municipalities. District President Sylvia M. Felder emphasizes how important these financial means are for the preservation and improvement of the fire brigade equipment. But what exactly is behind this funding?

In 2023, the fire brigades in the Karlsruhe region received 15.3 million euros in state grants for project funding. There are also around 2.7 million euros as a flat -rate funding. These amounts are particularly high compared to previous years, which is only to be welcomed in view of the increasing costs for fire materials and equipment.

investments for the future

The funding for 2025 will flow in particular into the procurement of new vehicles and the construction of fire station. This is done as part of the new administrative regulation, which Interior Minister Thomas Strobl issued in September 2024 and which will come into force from 2025. The focus is on reducing the bureaucratic hurdles for smaller communities so that they can get to the required fire engines more easily. In the future, the state will take over the procurement and support the municipalities in tenders. This should make the organization easier for the communities, which often do not have the necessary resources, reports Baden-württemberg.de.

But how is the money used? This year, for example, 2,465,783 euros will flow into the investment measures of the city and counties of the district district of Karlsruhe. The assignment to the district offices is a total of 12,837,088 euros. In view of the increased funding amounts, however, it must be determined that not all applications of grants can be positive.

specifically funded measures

The funded measures include an impressive list of acquisitions, including:

  • 32 fire trucks
  • 6 turntable ladders
  • 9 armory and device car
  • 7 operational control car
  • 1 rolling tank water
  • 1 mobile large fan bump
  • 19 network replacement systems (power generators)
  • 1 hydraulic rescue set
  • 2 additional loads "trolley"
  • 1 drone
  • 6 new buildings or extensions/conversions of fire station
  • 1 era and furnishings of a hose workshop
  • 2 Respiratory protection workshops
  • 1 replacement of the establishment of an integrated control center
  • 1 hose care system
  • 2 digital alarm consequences
  • 23 fixed radio devices (digital radio)
  • 2.151 Hand radio radio devices (digital radio)

In addition, municipalities with professional fire brigades have the opportunity to apply for an annual flat -rate amount of 1,200 euros per relative. 813,600 euros in grants have already been paid for the three professional fire brigades in the administrative district.

The flat-rate funding for members of the operations departments and the youth fire brigade is 2.7 million euros, which is used for the training costs, service and protective clothing as well as operating costs for workshops. This funding comes from the state part of the fire protection tax, which is also used for fire protection and preventive fire protection.

With this extensive funding, the country underpins its commitment to the security of the citizens and sets practical accents for the future of fire departments. Baden-Württemberg has invested a total of almost 300 million euros in the fire brigade in the past five years. This shows that the security of the citizens continues to be a top priority, and it is clear that the new regulations will not only strengthen the existing infrastructure, but also increase the operational readiness of the fire brigades.
