British AI startups start in BW accelerator program!
Something is happening in the area of artificial intelligence in Baden-Württemberg – and at an international level. Today, October 29, 2025, Drs. Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism, and the British Consul General Mark Dittmer-Odell in Stuttgart signaled the start of an exciting working trip for seven British companies. These companies have arrived in the region as part of the British government's UK Tech Accelerator program to present and further develop their innovative ideas in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Dr. During his welcoming speech, Rapp emphasized Baden-Württemberg's role as a strong partner in this program. He underlined how valuable cooperation with the United Kingdom is for the competitiveness and innovative strength of the German economy. The program, which was launched by the British government and is being implemented in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg ministry, is intended to connect innovative British technology companies with local companies. The state government sees this as the perfect opportunity to promote new collaborations in the AI sector.
A look into the future of technology
The seven British scale-ups taking part in the program have all brought market-ready solutions in the field of Enterprise AI. These companies were specifically selected to bring their expertise and innovative strength to the Baden-Württemberg economy. At the event, Consul General Dittmer-Odell emphasized the industrial strength and thriving AI ecosystem in Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg. It is hoped that these developments will promote prosperity and employment in the region through innovation.
Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i) and the BW-UK office will accompany the British companies during their four-month stay. They not only offer structural support, but also direct access to an extensive network of experts and potential cooperation partners. The program aims to generate technological impulses for Baden-Württemberg companies and start-ups, especially in future technologies such as AI, GreenTech and quantum computing.
The next steps in the accelerator program
Another exciting chapter will open in September 2024 when the first British-German high-tech accelerator program starts in Stuttgart. Companies from the fields of quantum physics, robotics and virtual reality will then have the opportunity to develop further on site and concretize their business ideas. This new step in the partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Great Britain is intended to promote pioneering spirit and innovative entrepreneurship and strengthen bilateral economic, innovation and scientific relationships. Minister of State Florian Stegmann noted that the exchange between the two countries is of great importance and hopes for many exciting developments.
Overall, the technical exchange between Baden-Württemberg and the United Kingdom could prove to be extremely fruitful, and both companies and start-ups can look forward to exciting collaborations and developments.
