In Müllheim, there is currently a strong promotion for improving childcare. The focus is on a petition that is aimed at the carriers of the Evangelical Kindergarten Käppelematten. The aim is to maintain and expand all -day care. The petitioned opening times are from Monday to Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Especially in times when other all-day kindergartens in Müllheim have shortened their offer over the past few years, the Käppelematten kindergarten plays a central role, since it is currently practically the only facility with almost all-day care times. But there are further cuts, despite the high demand, as the initiating parents criticize.

A survey among affected parents has clearly shown that the need for all -day care is high. More than 60 % of women with children under the age of 12 would like to work more, but are often disabled by insufficient childcare. This situation is still exacerbated by the current cuts in the childcare offer and allows many families to be dependent on creative solutions or support from grandparents. Single parents and those who work in shift work are particularly badly affected.

Family -friendly structures for a better future

The importance of reliable all -day care extends far beyond the individual family.
