Tradition and joy: AGV 1985 inspires the parade in Gmünd!
Schwäbisch Gmünd, Deutschland - June 14, 2025 was a very special date for the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd, because the AGV 1985 celebrated its first parade. The parade started with the traditional firecrackers from the Tower of the Johanniskirche and has been captivating many visitors since then. Participants, with creatively decorated handcarts full of flowers and others, made the move to a colorful and emotional experience. A highlight was Irene everything that was marked as a "Birthday Girl" with a pink sash. Another special feature was the participation of Patricia Stohrer, who wore two sashes - one of her employer and one of the jubilant group of Guggen group "Gmend Gassafetza" that turns 40 years old.
"Such a sense of community is just terrific," said Mathias Klepsch. The handcarts reflected the hobbies and passions of the participants and provided many conversations. While the AGV 1986 monasteries ensured catering, Sebastian Märtz, an jubilee, showed his culinary skills and even had a poster and cooking utensils with them. Despite midsummer temperatures, the men showed a lot of style and wore cylinders. The AGV-Zatle was filled with relatives and children from the vintage ceremonies from 1985, while the Waldstetter Lacabatscher created their music with their music.
a festival with tradition
The tradition of the peers in Schwäbisch Gmünd goes back to 1863, and the year traditionally begins with the four-zedge parade, since the Swabians only become "Gscheit" at the age of 40. Large annual parades for borns 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 take place every year on consecutive Saturdays. The men dress in tails and cylinders while the women appear in festive robes. This cultural event leads the participants through the medieval streets of the city and ends with the climax, the common singing of "Grüß di Gott, Alois" in front of the Johannisturm on the market square. A festive act rounds off the celebrations.
The petition associations not only offer a way for getting to know and integration, but also act as social and cultural places that appeal to new citizens and people from other countries. This creates a strong integrative force in the city, which is supported by regular meetings and low -threshold participation offers. This has remained the same in the post -war years when the festivals of solidarity served and the tradition was revived despite the turbulent history of the past centuries.
a warm welcome
During the move, many well -wishers were waiting in Kornhausstrasse and on the market square to express their congratulations to the participants. Mayor Richard Arnold had also agreed to personally pronounce their recognition to each participant and presented a red rose. The move was concluded again at the Johanniskirche, where the traditional "Alois-Singen" sounded and the participants were cheered on with the celebrations.
The AGV 1985 revived a new tradition with its parade on June 14, 2025, which not only strengthens the local community, but also sets a sign of the openness and hospitality of the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd.
