This appreciation includes various master's letters that have been awarded to the masters for their many years of professional experience. Hans Mellert, a master of Wagner, was honored in the category. With an impressive 93 years and an apprenticeship that started in 1947, he is a real veteran in the industry. Moved through the honor, he continued to work in his son's workshop. Angelika Welle-Männle, the master baker, and Paul Gutmann, the master butcher, were both awarded the diamond master certificate for 50 years. Welle-Männle looks back on an eventful story, because her bakery has existed since 1696. "I am the only woman among 80 men in my technical school and still feel comfortable in the bakery," she says proudly. Paul Gutmann, on the other hand, appreciates creativity in his profession. He started his career as a butcher and was able to work up to the manager. Jürgen Gißler received the golden master certificate for 40 years, who founded his electrical engineering company in 1985 and expanded with SEB-Solar GmbH in 2004. It emphasizes the importance of the craft for economic stability and the energy transition. "The craft has a future," says Gißler and thus sums up his conviction. The awarding of the master's letters is an important part of the craft. Depending on the duration of the experience, various master letters are awarded. After 50 years, the diamonds are available after 60 years and the iron after 65 years. The honored reflect on their many years of dedication to the craft and thus express a connection to the cultural craftsmanship that is formative for society. The Chamber of Crafts Aachen introduces these standards uniformly for the entire industry.
