Biberach, Deutschland - in Biberach in the past few months everything has been about the challenges of child poverty. The coordination of the prevention network in the Biberach district takes over Elisabeth Ott. One of the first project focus is to carry out training courses on poverty sensitivity for employees of authorities, day care centers and schools. These training courses are of central importance in order to create a better understanding of the challenges of the children and their families affected by poverty. Lobby work is also important to raise public awareness of poverty.

This challenge is not only to be mastered locally. Poverding is a national task that lies in the shared responsibility of municipalities, countries and the federal government. Municipalities offer social services and contribute to equal opportunities and participation of their citizens. The national action plan "New opportunities for children in Germany" has clear goals: combat causes of poverty, prevent new poverty, reduce the consequences and offer support for those affected. In addition, a specialist conference will take place in December in which various actors from municipalities, countries and civil society sector come together to develop strategies to combat child poverty.
