Weinheim is new: trained station environment in 15 years!

Weinheim, Deutschland - What can expect visitors who come back to Weinheim after 15 years? You will be welcomed by a completely new sight in the station environment and in the mobility of the city center. The urban planning renovation, which was made possible by a state renovation program, has brought the city around 2.3 million euros in funding. These changes were implemented in a period of twelve years and range from the renovation of the train station to the revitalization of the former industrial area.

As the Weinheimer municipal council will announce in its meeting on June 25, 2023, the work is now on the home stretch. The new central Omnibusbahnhof (ZOB), which has been new since 2013, optimizes the connection of city bus lines and, together with the newly organized OEG stops on the B3, will make a significant contribution to transport connections. In addition, the stopping point was moved to the west side to create barrier -free access to the main train station and ZOB.

massive investments and restructuring

Together with the Rhein-Neckar district, the city invested around 1.5 million euros in these comprehensive measures. The federal government and the country also contributed strongly with 1.4 million euros in financial aid. This also includes road and parking space renovations as well as a new public toilet facility. The positive development of the station area as the entrance to the city center was also emphasized by the Minister of Land Development and Living, Nicole Razavi.

Urban development promotes such progress and is at the side of municipalities to use old fallow land and create living space. "Every funding euro can trigger up to eight euros in follow -up investments," emphasized those responsible. This creates jobs in the local construction industry and is a sustainable incentive for the economy in the region.

from the industrial wasteland to the new center

Another remarkable project is the redesign of the former three-bell-noodle factory, which is now being converted into a modern three-bell center. This new center will not only house retail stores, but also offices, services and medical facilities. Residential units are also planned on the upper floors that are to be built in the coming years.

The property of the broken postal building has also learned a new traffic management and development, which increases the attractiveness of the entire station area. Private owners have also renovated their buildings, which contributes to the beautification of the cityscape.

The comprehensive measures to improve traffic safety, such as the creation of more convenient pedestrian areas and the planting with trees, show how much joy and quality of life can bring these new design elements. The Office for Urban Development emphasizes that many of the renovation goals have already been reached, the flow of traffic has been improved overall and security has been strengthened.

In the upcoming council meeting, further topics such as the adoption of the head of the auditing office, the police crime statistics 2024 and the exchange of channels in the Nibelungenviertel are to be discussed. This shows that in Weinheim it is not only held on a crane, but that the course is set for a future -oriented and livable city.

Visitors and locals can look forward to a newly designed quality of life in a changing cityscape. It remains exciting how the measures will develop in the future.

The Weinheimer municipal council is pleased to announce the successful completion of the urban development renewal on June 25, 2023 and invites all interested citizens to participate in the inside.
