NOK Biomasters: Communities are fighting for the best biotonne!
Until the decision at the end of the month is only a few weeks left, but the competition for the best organic waste separation in the Neckar-Odenwald district is already brings a breath of fresh air to the communities. As part of the “NOK Biomasters Championship” campaign of the Neckar-Odenwald (KWIN) circular economy, the separation of bio-waste is targeted. The current ranking already shows how important the topic is to the communities:
community | ratio that stopped at the total number of empties Th> |
---|---|
Mudau | 0.58% |
Zwingenberg | 0.63% |
ravenstein | 0.76% |
Limbach | 0.82% |
Scheflenz | 0.90% |
Mayor Dr. Norbert Rippberger from Mudau emphasizes the relevance of a clean separation of waste in order to avoid environmentally harmful contamination. A crucial criterion for the ranking is the ratio of the stopped biotons to the total number of empties, whereby the KWIN intensively controls the content of the biotons. A metal detection system recognizes disturbing metallic residues such as aluminum foil, crown corks or even small metal parts. If the bin is contaminated, it stops - the evidence runs in the form of a red note slip that indicates possible sorting.
new rules from May 2025
Not only the domestic campaign plays a role in waste management. From May 1, 2025, new regulations for the separation of organic waste come into force. The goal? Less plastics in the bio bin! According to the Federal Environment Ministry, bio -waste may then contain a maximum of 0.5 percent plastics, which is a clear and strict requirement. Consumers should be asked to throw no plastic products into the bio bin even if they are advertised as biodegradable. This regulation is intended to help reduce the pollution of floors and water by microplastics.
An interesting challenge remains the review of these requirements by waste companies. You must ensure that the bio -waste delivered adhere to the specified value limits. In the event of violations, such as a high number of foreign substances, this could cause costs for the causes. Regardless of the strict regulations, however, there will be no fines for consumers, but rather a focus on clarification and dialogue as with the kwin.
The way to the circular economy
At the national and European level, an improve the infrastructure for plastic recycling is still being improved. A central goal is to strengthen the recyclate content, which concerns the development of quotas for recycled materials in plastic production. By reducing the variety of materials, especially for thermoplastics, efficiency in the recycling process is to be increased. In addition, a concept for feed -in tariffs for the plastic sector is worked on, coupled to greenhouse gas savings.
In a time when environmental protection and sustainable action are becoming increasingly pressing, awareness of the correct waste separation is decisive. The commitment of the communities in the Neckar-Odenwald district already shows positive approaches. Ultimately, it depends on the fact that we all care about the environment. Anyone who leaves a plastic in the bio bin by properly separates a valuable service for our earth.
Current information and tips for the correct waste separation can also be found on the KWIN social media channels. When the competition comes to an end, the winner will look forward to a special surprise: a visit to the ice cream car could be the icing on a successful campaign.
