Painters in the Heilbronn district receive a wage increase of 19.42 euros!
In the Heilbronn district, painters and varnishers finally have reason to be happy: from now on they will earn an hourly wage of 19.42 euros, retroactively from April. This means around 90 euros more in the monthly paycheck for full-time employees. This positive development results from tough collective bargaining that has taken place in recent months. A total of around 330 employees in 58 companies benefit from this wage increase, as IG BAU and the employment agency report. A step that represents a real ray of hope for those working in the trades. Eppingen reports.
But that's not all. The craft industry is facing further changes. Painters and varnishers without a collective wage receive the minimum wage of 15.55 euros, which has also been in effect since July. And the trainees can also be happy: from August onwards they will receive 50 euros more. More wage increases are on the horizon for next year, keeping the industry on its toes.
Tariff increases at a glance
In recent years there have been significant wage increases in the painting and varnishing trade nationwide. As the German craft newspaper reported, around 150,000 employees received a wage increase of 5% in the old federal states at the beginning of 2023. A further increase of 2.6% is planned for 2024. There is even an extra bonus of 10 cents, especially for companies in East Germany.
The collective agreement, which was concluded at the end of 2022, reflects the current market situation and runs until September 30, 2024. These fixed regulations offer companies a certain level of planning security, while at the same time putting the needs of visitors to its services first.
Future outlook for the industry
Training allowances are also under scrutiny. There will be a further increase in training from August 2024, while the industry minimum wages will also be increased in April 2024. Here are the targeted amounts:
| Compensation | amount |
|---|---|
| 1st year of training | 800.00 euros |
| 2nd year of training | 885.00 euros |
| 3rd year of training | 1,050.00 euros |
Markus Heineke from the employers' side is optimistic about the "crisis-appropriate compromise", while Carsten Burckhardt from the employees' side notes that the agreement on industry minimum wages is of great importance. Even though the negotiations were described as “extremely tough”, stability in the craft sector is the top priority.
It remains to be seen how these developments will affect the local economy in the Heilbronn district, but the signs point to a positive growth curve for the painting and varnishing industry. The reorganization of wages and the planned increases not only create incentives for employees, but also promote the training of new skilled workers, which is particularly important for the future of the skilled trades.
