Mayors discuss the future: culture, education and animal welfare in focus!

What's going in Weinsberg? On June 17, 2025, the local council met with Mayor Birgit Hannemann and her first deputy Birgit Vollert to discuss current topics. Education and support, animal welfare, fire brigade, the significant viticulture of the region and climate adjustment were on the agenda. Laufen reports that these topics for the approximately 13,500 inhabitants of Weinsberg, which are in the districts of Gellmersbach, Grantschen and Wimmental, are of great relevance.

A very special focus applies to the upcoming 500th anniversary of the farmers' uprising from 1525. On this occasion, a play by Jürgen Reiner is listed, which recalls the peasant war. The first of a total of six open-air performances are planned for next July in the Rathaus-Burghof. The amateur play group under the direction of Gotthard Buck has prepared for this production since January and has over 30 actors in their ranks. Tickets are available for 15 euros, reduced for 8 euros for pupils, students and Juleica owners, in a world shop and in the gravel house 1. The cultural program in Weinsberg includes over 50,000 euros annually and, despite a budget lock, continues to receive support, in particular through a grant of 4,450 euros for the "Cultural Summer 2025 Stage Frei" from the cultural foundation of the Kreissparkasse Heilbronn.

The opening times of the repair point are Tuesday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

And what about the educational opportunities? The Hölderlin-Gymnasium, which is one of the Erasmus schools, recently organized a student exchange with Spanish young people, which promotes intercultural exchange in the region. A visit to the town hall offered an introduction to the city and an exchange round of local law, followed by a city tour in Heidelberg - politically informative and touristy!
