Waiblinger scholarship: Angela Glajcar inspires with paper art!
When it comes to contemporary art, Waiblingen is at the forefront. This year the city launched the paper art schedule to support innovative artists: inside. This award is financed by the EVA Mayr-Stihl Foundation that uses funds from Renate Reichert's estate to promote contemporary artists and exhibition projects. From now on, the paper sculptor Angela Glajcar is the main scholarship holder for 2026 and is given the great opportunity to work in Waiblingen for six weeks and create new works.
Angela Glajcar is already well known in the region. Their impressive installations are characterized by hand -torn paper, which brings it into monumental shapes and thus unfolds a unique spatial character. During her scholarship -based stay, she will add more works to the previous creative period, in which she exhibited, for example, a six meter long and three -meter -high work of art in the Michaelskirche - and not alone: As a mentor, she will also promote the exchange with young talents who are selected via an international tender in autumn.
creative beginnings in Waiblingen
The origin of the Waiblingen paper art schedule goes back to 2023 when it was awarded for the first time. Katrin Ströbel, the first main scholarship holder, worked with three promising young artists: Valentine Gardiennet, Nele Hendrikje Sandner and Khadija El Abyad. The cooperation with established artists such as Ströbel emphasizes the variety of expressions of paper and drawing, from which both the established artists: inside and the young talents benefit.
The Galerie Stihl Waiblingen, which has been focused on work and on paper since its opening in 2008, has established itself as a central point of contact for drawing art. Every year there are three alternating exhibitions that revolve around the fascinating medium of paper. Before her time as a scholarship holder, Glajcar was active in the gallery and will now also offer workshops with the young artists during her stay: offer the interior of the Unteres Remstal art school, which serves to exchange techniques and working methods and create important networks.
A look into the future
The international character of the scholarship not only offers Glajcar the chance for creative development, but also the opportunity to network and to be able to search with other artists. Anja Gerdemann, head of the Stihl Waiblingen gallery, emphasizes Glajcar's unique handling of paper, which combines both the sculpture and drawing qualities.
The opening of the work that arises during the scholarship will attract a certain focus and further enrich the art scene in Waiblingen. The scholarship is funded by the EVA Mayr-Stihl Foundation and is an exciting step for the local or international art scene. It is planned to carry out the project every two years, with which the creative potential in the region will support.
This remains to be seen which imposing works are created in Angela Glajcar in Waiblingen. With a good hand and creativity, she will undoubtedly captivate the audience.
