In 2024, over 90 states in Switzerland searched for peace in Ukraine. But attractive solutions remain rare because countries such as Brazil, India, South Africa and Saudi Arabia do not support the final declaration. This declaration condemns the threat of nuclear weapons, demands the return of deported children and unimpeded grain export from Ukraine, which illustrates the urgency of the topic. The Ukraine conflict now lasts over two years without a clear view of peace. Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently expressed the desire for a "brisk" peace, which re -sparked the discussion about peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides blame each other for the failure of these negotiations.

Vladimir Putin claimed that the Ukrainian President Selenskyj had issued a law that forbid negotiations with Russia. A decree from 2022 that determines the impossibility of negotiations with Putin does not refer to a ban, but to the current incompatibility of the positions. The positions of the actors

The differences between the countries are huge. Russia's Foreign Minister Lavrov is blame for the lack of peace talks. The persistent challenges show how important it is to build up trusting relationships and to find compromises. Only through a common understanding and international support can the path be paved to a permanent peace.
