The enthusiasm for tractors is not only noticeable for the event participants: Tractors have revolutionized agriculture over the years. Since they have replaced the animal helpers, they have been convincing with numerous advantages. They are stronger, agile and also more easy to care for. In the meantime, they don't cost little, while they are only really challenged during work - good business for farmers!

A look at the history of the tractors

The path of modern tractor began over a hundred years ago with the Fordson of Henry Ford, who came onto the market in 1917. Before that, large steam tractors and tractors were the only options, which many small farms could not afford. The Fordson came with a carburetor engine and a three -speed gear, including reverse gear, which made it the first choice and stamped the tractor production in Germany. Here were the Lanz Bulldog and Hanomag approx. 28 striking answers to the American competition.

It is particularly interesting that the development of German tractor construction after the 1948 currency reform received a real boost. Within just a few years, the number of newly approved tractors in the Federal Republic rose to almost 100,000. However, the heyday of the tractor production was not long in coming-the 1960s marked the beginning of a decline, which forced many German manufacturers to the task or merger until 1970.

tractor culture and passion

Nowadays, only a few tractor manufacturers are bustling on the market in Germany, such as Fendt or John Deere. But the magic of the classic car tractors of brands such as Deutz, Porsche or Eicher remains unbroken. For many, these vehicles are not just work animals, but true lovers. The tractor as a hobby takes up more and more space-there are numerous tractor clubs that are devoted to restoration, excursions and championships.

The fascination for the technical sophistication and the grace of the tractors attract many fans who often travel to events with their classic cars. The younger generations have discovered the collecting of scale toy tractors, which shows that these machines are far more than just work equipment - they are part of adventures and stories, such as the remarkable journey of actress Manon Ossevoort to the South Pole, which was undertaken in 2014 with a tractor.

So if you don't do anything next Saturday, you should enter the 20th summer festival of the Trekker team Weiler-Winterbach in the calendar. Tractor fans and families can expect a colorful program around the popular machines. More information is available at Facebook and on ZVW.
