Filmakademie Ludwigsburg: Double success at the German Camera Prize 2025!
Ludwigsburg, Deutschland - The Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, located in the picturesque Ludwigsburg, has once again emerged as a center of outstanding film art. At the German Camera Prize 2025, which took place on June 13th at the WDR Funkhaus in Cologne, two talents from the renowned academy were allowed to cheer. This year's prize was awarded for the 35th time and honors particularly creative achievements in the areas of image design and assembly, since its introduction in 1982.
In the short film category, Paul Ader, a talented student of the film academy, won the coveted prize for his impressive camera work in the film "Haus am Hang". This work, which was created in the second year, addresses the life of young people who have become delinquent in a facility and is currently available in the ARD media library. At the award ceremony, the jury particularly praised the clever visual language of the film, which creates a harmonious connection between the rough environment and poetic approaches. Paul Ader, who is a scholarship holder of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation and took part in an international partner program, has already won the BAFTA student Award in Los Angeles with this film, as did the [Filmakademie] (https://www.filmakademie.de/de/newsaktuelles/article/35-deutscher-kamerareis-fabw-student-und-absolvent-aus.
alumni in the winner list
But not only a current student was able to shine, graduate Stephan Bechinger was also happy. He was awarded the best film montage of his drama "The Outrun" in the fiction cinema category. The film is about a woman, played by Saoirse Ronan, who returns to her homeland on the Scottish north coast as an alcoholic, in the hope of overcoming her self -destructive behavior with the support of her parents. The jury praised the assembly to be extremely successful because it conveys a feeling of participating in the consciousness stream of the protagonist and offers surprising details with a close connection between shape and content.
Overall, the film academy and its alumni were represented with five nominations, including the student Jona Riese for the image design of the film "UNHCR - Through My Eyes". Former students, such as Yunus Roy Imer for the image design of "The Outrun" and Anna Nekarda for assembly with "Who is without guilt", were also able to look forward to nominations. This shows once again that the training center is a fertile soil for aspiring filmmakers.
honorary winners and other awards
As part of the award ceremony, the honorary award in 2023 was also awarded to Jenny Schenk, an experienced camera woman from the WDR. She was honored for her meritorious work in abroad and her role as a pioneer for other filmmakers. At the other prices, Judith Kaufmann for the best camera in fiction and Carmen Treichl were awarded for their work in the vampire series "Love Sucks".
