Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Deutschland - in 2025 Leinfelden-Echterdingen is facing a very special event: the city celebrates its 50th anniversary! This big occasion should not only be celebrated properly, but also with sustainable actions. Under the motto "Donate anniversary trees for the city forest", the city community calls for an extensive tree planting campaign to maintain the green lungs of the city.

The campaign is largely organized by Klaus Eckhardt from the Vereinring Echterdingen and Michael Burkhardt of the Musberg village community. You work hand in hand with district forester Jonathan Sachs and his team to plant around 1,000 new trees. Each tree costs a donation of 15 euros, which can be transferred to the city's donation account by September 30, 2025. The IBAN for the transfer is DE37 6115 0020 0010 7717 07, with the intended use "Donate Jubilee Forest".

But that's not all the city is planning. In 1975 Leinfelden-Echterdingen emerged from the merger of the municipalities of Echterdingen, Leinfelden, Musberg and Stetten. In order to strengthen the sense of we in the community, a big festival comes to the city anniversary, which will be held throughout 2025. In particular, the effects of coronapandemia were reason to celebrate together and get closer.

The official ceremony will take place on February 8, 2025 and was organized by the Kulturamt and the Office for Schools, Youth and Association. In addition to speeches, a picture show and video recordings of contemporary witnesses, a play is also listed that addresses the love story between a Leinfeld boy and a real girl.

In June 2025, a marquee will be set up in the parking lot at the Goldäcker sports field for three days. Here the population can get to know local associations and organizations in a festive and cultural mile. A younger audience will also be taken care of, possibly with a stage at the new youth center area. The event is accompanied by a party band and an admission of 35 euros per person is planned, with discounts being considered for younger guests.

The tree planting campaign is not only a contribution to the preservation of the city forest, but is also intended to strengthen environmental awareness. Similar initiatives show that millions of trees are not only important in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. In Otterndorf, for example, a similar project is being followed, in which 625 trees are planted - a tree for every year in city history. This type of commitment to the environment shows how important the protection and creation of green spaces are for identity and the inheritance of coming generations.
