[Esslinger Zeitung] (https://www.esslinger-zeitung.de/inhalt.kreis-esslingen- Geden- Großser-Architect-Hinterliess-Zreiner-Baukunst.87bf8993-353F-43DE-866FB286AF01C.HTML) reports on the festivities at 7:30 p.m. will take place.
The memorial event not only addresses Stohrer's architectural achievements, but also offers a deep insight into its art and work. Vera Romeu, the collection manager, will classify Stohrer's work in the historical context. In addition, Manfred Gruber will hold a laudation that will certainly arouse emotions. Silja Riethmüller, who introduces Stohrer as founder of the artist community Ligne et Couleur Stuttgart, is still on a creative icing on the cake to the whole. The art historian Christina Ossowski will also bring us closer to Stohrer as a painter, while the cellist Sebastian Triebener ensures the musical framework.
A look at Stohrer's legacy
The architectural heritage by Paul Stohrer is impressive. Its construction is characterized by a harmonious combination of transparency and closed surfaces, strongly influenced by classic modernism. Many of his works are unique both technically and design and reflect the zeitgeist of the post -war years. As wikipedia, Stohrer was active as a stage designer, director and lecturer at the Stuttgart State Business School. His creative range extended over many areas and numerous important projects, including the Chamber Theater in Stuttgart and the Radio Barth, which was demolished in 2000.
The architecture of the 1960s and 1970s, which was largely shaped by functionalism, is now the focus of discussions about their preservation. A certain discomfort remains in the evaluation of these buildings, since many of them are perceived as sober and imaginative. [Architecture Online] (https://www.architektur-online.com/kolumnen/denkmalpflege-der- after war architecture) addresses the challenges that cities have when dealing with post-war architecture, and the need for new evaluation methods. Stohrer’s work, which mostly emerged from a time of acute lack of living space, could be recognized as culturally valuable - but further discussions and criteria are certainly required here.
If you want to learn more about Paul Stohrer's impressive career, you are cordially invited to the memorial event in Nürtingen. Registration for the event is required and can easily be sent by email to Stiftung@domnick.de. Not only is Stohrer's architectural art recognized, but also his contribution to the development of architecture in Germany is brought alive.
