Sindelfingen calls: Fitness day for 900 children - be there!
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the glass palace in Sindelfingen becomes the scene of a special event: the 17th Fitness Day under the motto "I'll be fit." stands at the door. Around 900 children and adolescents will try out the various sports and become active together. This event is organized by the Sindelfingen community foundation, the Stahl Sport Shop and the AOK Health Insurance Fund Stuttgart-Böblingen and begins early at 8:30 a.m. to inspire until 1.30 p.m.
"We want to bring the children and young people closer to the joy of movement," explains a representative of the community foundation. The fitness day is part of the “Sindelfingen in motion” project, which is now in the 11th round. This ambitious project was launched in 2019 and has been aiming for children for sport since then. The project is supported by local partners and coaching teams that are made up of various sports clubs in the region.
a colorful offer for all
Fitness day will offer a real sports festival for the participants. With around 30 different sports, there is the opportunity for every child to find something suitable. For the little ones, the venues, in addition to the glass palace, are also intended for the sports world and the tennis halls. A special highlight will be the participation of the AOK Stuttgart-Böblingen, which, in addition to play and sports performances, also provides valuable information on healthy nutrition.
Another point that enriches the Fitness Day is the integration of the "student marathon", in which around 1,500 children took part on May 5, 2019. The upcoming events should also include prices for schools and daycare centers with a high participation rate in the sports campaigns. "This spurs the children and makes the whole thing competitive and exciting," says the organizers.
The important role of movement
The need for such initiatives becomes clear through a growing social challenge. Studies show that fewer and fewer children move sufficiently and that an increasing overweight is the result. According to the provider of Sportport, which acts as part of the project, this has a negative impact on health systems - around 25% of the sports lesson at German schools is canceled and 50% is even taught. In addition, the focus is becoming increasingly important for fun and values for sporting activities for all children and adolescents.
In this sense, the fitness day is not just a unique event, but a component in a larger context that should integrate movement into the everyday life of children. The city of Sindelfingen and the Stadtwerke Sindelfingen are supportive alongside the organizers to give children access to sports opportunities.
interested children and young people are welcome to take part in the glass palace on June 26th. Every step counts - and maybe one or the other little athlete will become the next big hero.
