Judgment on the compact ban: decision in the show process on June 24th!

The topic that is currently causing excitement in Germany and all over Europe is the ban on the right -wing extremist magazine "Compact". On June 24, the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig will announce its judgment in a particularly explosive matter. At a two -day trial, the legality of the ban was discussed intensively, whereby a central question arose: Are the controversial statements of the magazine just expressions of opinion or do you violate the constitutional order? The presiding judge Ingo Kraft announced the upcoming decision at the end of the hearing, which, due to their scope, is also observed beyond the court halls.

The negotiation was tough. The relationships between the "Compact" makers, especially Martin Sellner-focus on a prominent Austrian right-wing extremist. Sellner is not only a regular author, but also an influential player in the right -wing extremist scene and has involved in meetings that are considered problematic in public. Editor -in -chief Jürgen Elsässer praised Sellner as brave and incorruptible, but distanced himself from some of his content. He even published a special edition of the magazine to give alleged "outlawed" a voice.

background of the ban

The ban was pronounced in July 2024 by the then Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser. Her reasoning was clear: "Compact" was a central mouthpiece of the right -wing extremist scene that rush against Jews, people with a history of migration and against parliamentary democracy. This ban was temporarily suspended in an urgent procedure, so that the magazine could continue to appear. Alsässer himself stated that his magazine acts as a platform for "committed journalism", while the representatives of the Interior Ministry clarified that they were able to present over 240 pages of evidence that included statements that violate human dignity and democracy.

Another Dementi came from Alsatians himself, who claimed that criticized text passages should be regarded as exceptions and he speaks in metaphors. The process representative of the Federal Ministry of the Interior cited passages on migrant issues that caused excitement in public. "We want to overthrow the regime," said Alsatian provocatively in a statement that was cited by the presiding judge in the court room.

reactions and further developments

The support for Alsatians was noticeable in the courtroom when his sympathizers applauded during the hearing. While the entire procedure is of great importance for the magazine, the sales number of around 40,000 printed copies per month and the online presence should not be underestimated with 512,000 subscribers on YouTube. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has devoted its own page to the magazine and classified it as part of the resistance milieus, which further reinforces the view of the content.

This means that the social debate about freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the limits of the publicly expressed opinion is more than ever in the room. It remains to be seen whether the "Compact" makers will move to the Federal Constitutional Court after the judgment, but it is clear that it will continue to remain a hot iron in the future. In the upcoming decision in June, the public should be banned and wait and see how the court reacts to the serious allegations.
