Pforzheim cycles record: 18,057 trips for the environment!

The period of this year's city cycling in Pforzheim from May 16 to June 5th caused the city in motion: over 1,100 enthusiastic cyclists have come together to pedal strongly. With 1,113 participants, the highest participation has been reached since the beginning of this campaign, and on July 18, a festive award ceremony was held by environmental mayor Tobias Volle, which emphasized the outstanding commitment of the Pforzheimers. The focus was on everyday trips, be it to work, school or when shopping. A total of 18,057 cyclists were completed, which is about 1,500 more trips than in the previous year!

Overall, the participants covered an impressive route of 225,191 kilometers. A real reason for cheering, because around 37 tons of CO₂ could be saved compared to car journeys. This shows that cycling is not only an environmentally friendly means of transportation, but also offers health benefits such as longer life expectancy and fewer civilization diseases. This underpins the Federal Environment Agency, which emphasizes that over 40 % of car journeys in major German cities are less than 5 kilometers. Here the bike is often the fastest and easiest solution.

The award ceremony

The award ceremony has recognized some outstanding services. In the "most active everyday cyclist" category, the first place went to Josaphat Krumbacher with a proud 102 trips. But Tobias Bühler and Tobias Dettinger also caused a sensation with 97 and 92 trips. The team with most trips provided the city of Pforzheim - administration with impressive 1,223 trips, followed by the ADFC/cm and the Oratorio Choir Pforzheim. The most active school was the Kepler-Gymnasium Pforzheim with 2,516 trips, while Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw was the most active company with 695 trips.
