Pforzheim falls last place in BW in the 2025 bicycle climate test!

Pforzheim, Deutschland - Pforzheim remains on the siding for cyclists

The bicycle friendliness in Pforzheim has again received a not exactly rosy rating. According to the current ADFC bicycle climate test , which was carried out from September to November 2024, the city occupies last place in Baden-Württemberg in 2025 with a largely dissatisfied grade of 4.5. This is not a surprise because the assessment has not changed compared to the last test from 2022. Thus, the city of the ADFC, the results of which can be called up on the website of the association, is denied a sustainable improvement in its bicycle climate.

in the German comparison, Pforzheim also cuts poorly and ends up in the 39th place of a total of 42 cities. This shows that in Pforzheim there is a lack of attractiveness for cyclists. These are not the best prospects when you consider that 66 percent of the cyclists surveyed find driving in the city uncomfortable and grants the grades 5 and 6.

strengths and weaknesses in the cycling climate

Despite the lean overall grade, there are also positive aspects: the one -way streets can be driven in the opposite direction, which even did quite well with a grade of 2.7. Access to the city center was also valued at 3.5. It is also gratifying that there are allocations for cyclists, which was rewarded at 3.7.

However, the negative aspects that are fundamental to the poor overall result outweigh. Traffic light circuits for cyclists received the inglorious grade 5.1, while false parking on bike paths was rated even worse at 5.2. Furthermore, Pforzheim cuts 5.3 with the availability of public bicycles or bike rental, which also speaks for the dissatisfaction of the cyclists.

A look beyond the borders of Pforzheim

In contrast to Pforzheim, other cities in Germany show significantly positive developments in the field of bicycle friendliness. For example, there were promising progress in large cities such as Frankfurt am Main and Hanover, which led to an improvement in the ratings. On average, the overall grade for cycling in Germany is 3.92, although the climate has improved slightly for cyclists. This indicates that the steps taken in Pforzheim may not be sufficient to keep up with progress in other cities.

The ADFC bicycle climate test is not just a large-scale survey in which cyclists: inside the opinion on the satisfaction with the conditions in their city. The data collected are also an important basis for traffic planners: inside and politicians: inside, to make improvements. The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport promotes this project from the national cycling plan to increase quality of life in the cities.

The future of cycling in Pforzheim is therefore clear: Here a rethink must take place and measures must be taken quickly so that the city meets its responsibility for a more modern and bicycle -friendly infrastructure. Because one thing is clear: to permanently convince the cyclists in Pforzheim, more than just a few nice directions are needed. This is the only way to get the last placement in the next few years and enable them for its citizens: on the inside.
