Free lunch in Pforzheim: Together against hunger and loneliness!
With a warm campaign, a sign of solidarity was set in the Pforzheim measurement on Tuesday. Around 100 people in need were happy about a free lunch, which was organized by the Caritas . The goal of this initiative is clear: fight hunger and loneliness and give people a piece of joie de vivre in difficult situations. Delicious breaded schnitzel with potato salad and fries or spaetzle were served - usually a price of 12.50 euros.
Especially for Irina, a native Russian, the event was a successful change. She is dependent on financial help and regularly visits the Pforzheim soup kitchen. There she not only found warm meals, but also made friendships. Irina and her friends reported that it does not matter for them where you come from - together they support each other. This underlines the social network, which has grown in the city and primarily takes care of the needy.
Together against loneliness
The big rush at the Pforzheimer Mess shows how important such offers are. Klaus, Claudia, Volker and Uwe, who also regularly eat in the soup kitchen, were enthusiastic about the opportunity to dine at the fair. The initiative was encouraged and illustrated that the hunger for more than just food is also the longing for community and exchange. Caritas supplies about 140 people with warm meals in the soup kitchen every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The increasing number of visitors led to the food must be output in two layers.
It is also worth noting that Caritas and Christian communities in Pforzheim not only rely on the measurement. The Initiative "Essen to take away" was launched to offer help during the pandemic. On almost all Sundays, needy warm meals can pick up, with the food edition organized by a wide variety of providers, from the Bernhardushaus to diakonia. A relaxed atmosphere was created on the first day of the edition, despite the pandeme -related conditions.
A look into the future
Thanks to an anonymous donor who wants to share his moments of happiness with others, more free lunch is planned - for example on the Öchlefest and the Christmas market. It is a beautiful ray of hope in times when many people rely on support.
Aid organizations such as the Johanniter also act with transparency and efficiency in order to use their means exactly where they are most urgently needed. Especially in the current time, the support of projects that are committed to poverty and loneliness is essential. They contribute to the fact that the cooperation and the community are not lost even in difficult times.
