Goldsmith schools in Pforzheim and Vicenza: A strong exchange project!
In November, a group of students from the Pforzheim Goldsmith School took an exciting journey into the world of jewelry to the twin city of Vicenza, Italy. Six committed students and their teacher Andrej Jarosch used the opportunity to strengthen the valuable connection to the Gold Academy Vicenza. This school has made a name for itself in training specialists in the jewelry industry since 1858 and is one of the most renowned training centers in Italy. The Pforzheim Goldsmith School, which can trace its roots back to 1767, is the only goldsmith school with a watchmaking school in this country.
The contact between the two schools has now existed for two years and has developed from initial get-to-know-you activities to intensive exchange. The students had the opportunity to try out new techniques in jewelry design, learn engraving and work on their own projects. What was particularly exciting was the insight into the manufacturing processes and design at the jewelry company NANIS, which gave the students valuable insights into practice.
Cultural highlights and practical learning
But it wasn't just the craftsmanship that was in the foreground. The students also enjoyed cultural activities, including walking tours of Vicenza, afternoon strolls through the historic streets, and shared meals that strengthened community. A special reception in the historic town hall of Vicenza, organized by the partnership officer and city councilor Elia Pizzolato, rounded off the visit.
Headmaster Dr. Michael Kiefer shared his positive impressions of the commitment and curiosity of the students on both sides. In fact, the exchange goes in both directions: A student from the Gold Academy is currently completing an internship lasting several months at the Pforzheim Goldsmith School. Both schools see this mutual learning and imparting of knowledge as a valuable opportunity.

The training lasts two years and includes a practical curriculum with around 32 hours per week.
