Peaceful CSD in Pforzheim: 1,300 participants celebrated variety!

Pforzheim, Deutschland - On June 15, 2025, Pforzheim experienced a colorful and largely peaceful Christopher Street Day (CSD), in which around 1,300 participants took part under the motto "Don’t Be Quiet, BE A RIOT-Solidarity against Hass". The demo train started on the market square on time and moved through the city for about an hour before ending with a final rally at the same place. The police reported the event as "peaceful and trouble-free" and was on site with several hundred emergency services, including police dog handler and anti-conflict teams, to ensure security. Emergency services had also been supported by the federal police, which in view of other meetings nearby were a necessary measure. This information reports the news portal PF-BITS.

But the mood was not entirely undisturbed, because in parallel to the CSD demo, the right-wing extremist group "Sturm Trupp Süd" organized a rally under the motto "For traditional values and freedom of expression". This also took place from 12 noon on the Waisenhausplatz and attracted around 75 participants. In addition, there was a third assembly with around 350 people who stood up under the motto "Nazi demo-CSD Pforzheim protecting". Here there were occasional provocations between the two groups, which caused the police forces to intervene to calm down the situation. The Tagesschau offers notes on this.

conflicts and challenges

The clashes between Antifa participants and the right demonstrators were poured out when the police tried to dissolve blockages. Objects were also thrown, even if the police were not reporting any injuries. The Antifa demo ultimately had to be dissolved due to violent riots, and there were arrested. Over 100 people were converted to determine identity, and the participants are investigated due to the initial suspicion of the breach of the peace. These circumstances underline the need for increased security, as reported on BNN.

Despite these conflicts, there was reason to be happy. The CSD in Pforzheim took place for the third time, and the stage program on the marketplace, including performances by Drag Queens and other artists, created an exuberant atmosphere. For the first time, even a mayor, Tobias Volle, spoke on the CSD, which also enhanced the event. Katja Mast, an SPD member of the Bundestag, and Gunther Krichbaum from the CDU also registered their participation, while Mayor Peter Boch canceled his participation.

The day was rounded off by celebrations, which lasted until the evening, which once more shows that the CSD is not only a protest day, but also a festival for the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people and intersex. The Pforzheimer CSD also symbolizes the memory of the uprising of homosexuals against police will in New York Christopher Street in 1969, for which it will continue to be fought in the future.
