Maintenance of the orchards: Summer course in Karlsruhe awaits numerous participants!
In Karlsruhe something is happening in the area of the orchards! The "Shaping initiative in the Karlsruhe City and District" has put together an exciting offer together with the city: a summer crack course. This will take place on Friday, June 20, from 5 p.m. in Karlsruhe-Grünwettersbach. The participants meet on the orchards of the Natur Bergdörfer network on Hatzengraben. Here all interested fruit meadow owners are given the opportunity to find out comprehensive information about the care of their fruit trees. The journey is easily accessible via the town center towards Palmbach, and there is helpful travel information on the homepage of the scattered initiative. Since it is always good not to drive alone, it is advisable to form carpools. Registration is not necessary so that everyone can just drop by. If you have any questions, the organizers are happy to be reached by email.
But that wasn't all. Just a month later, on June 28, 2024, another important date for fruit lovers is on the program. In Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld, a fruit tree cut course is offered, which is also organized by the association and the city. The aim is to promote the preservation of the orchards. The participants learn how to correctly examine the orchard trees treated in the spring and how the summer tear contributes to the development of the trees. The course also begins at 5 p.m. and takes place south of the outskirts of Stutensee-Büchig. Parking is available near the Stadtbahn stop, and here too there is a journey aid on the website. No registration is required for this event either, so that interested parties can simply come by.
environmental education and sustainability
These courses are not only practical help for fruit meadow owners, but are also in a larger context. Environmental education plays a crucial role when it comes to promoting the responsible use of our natural resources. The concept of "Education for Sustainable Development" (BNE) has existed since the 1990s. Interactive teaching methods are used to put topics such as climate protection and biodiversity in an understandable way. This commitment not only helps to raise awareness of orchards, but also brings knowledge of planning, action and teamwork. During the orchard formation, the “green classroom” is used, which relocates learning outside, combined with games and activities in nature. These programs also combine with important goals of the United Nations, such as high -quality education through ecological sustainability, the protection of land ecosystems and the creation of sustainable cities.
The orchards are not only a legacy of our culture, but are also among the most important ecosystems in our region. They offer habitats for numerous animal and plant species and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. Raising the future generations and bringing them closer to the importance of these meadows is a long -term task that can be tackled with fun and creativity.
whether for courses on fruit tree care or through concepts for environmental education, the initiative shows that there are a variety of ways to actively work for the preservation and understanding of orchards. Take the opportunity to learn more about these valuable ecosystems and to expand your skills in fruit tree care!
