Baden-Baden Clinic location: Citizens' decision on the future of health!
On June 29, 2025, a decision in Baden-Baden is in the house that could have far-reaching consequences for the health care of the region. As part of a citizens' decision, the Baden-Badeners are asked to coordinate the planned new construction of a central clinic. The citizens' initiative "Yes! To the Baden-Baden clinic location" has initiated a comprehensive process, which is now going into the next round with the consent of the local council. The Mayor of Baden-Baden, Dietmar Späth, has already pleaded for the advantages of the “Am Münchfeldsee” clinic location and warns of the risks of a longer delay.
Späth said that the current structures of the city clinic must be immediately renovated or replaced. The existing clinic in Balg is considered not future -proof, and a new building in the city would be urgently needed. The city has the responsibility to ensure adequate health care, and the planned location offers the best conditions for this. A current deficit of 20 million euros could then be reduced to around 2.9 million euros, which would mean significant relief for the city. According to Goodnews4.de , the costs for the current deficit per month are already up to two million euros.
Citizens' decision process and expectations
The citizens' decision will cost around 110,000 euros, with an information brochure being in the works for preparation. The vote is zero and void, if not at least 20 percent of the citizens entitled to vote vote for the approval. This is a great responsibility for the Baden-Badeners who have to deal with the topic.
