The premiere took place on August 31, 1928 in Berlin, but in 2025 the work is also more top than ever. The reason for the performance is not only a cultural highlight, but also a way to think through Brecht's work on socially critical topics. The director Christina Rast and her team promise a staging that is supposed to stimulate the audience to think.
"The Dreignoschenoper" addresses capitalism criticism and human needs and refers to social grievances that are also relevant today. Brecht, who was born in Augsburg in 1898, wanted to expose the corruption of bourgeois society with his work and make the audience think about the economic conditions that threaten the basics of human existence. They illustrate how crimes and legal system are connected in a capitalist society. Thinking sides emphasizes that the novel and the opera not only maintain, but also take a look
