In Warthausen there is an unpleasant turn for the St. Elisabeth kindergarten: The municipality plans to close the facility on September 1, 2027. This is reported by the Schwäbische Zeitung . The parish of St. Johannes, who runs the kindergarten, is surprised and does not want to accept the closure. Around 40 children are currently being looked after in the facility, who could soon be faced with the question of where their next steps take.
The location of the kindergarten is considered in need of renovation. According to Mayor Wolfgang Jautz, there will be no investments in the existing facility. The parish considered to temporarily move the daycare center there during the renovation of the kindergarten in Oberhöfen. But a sudden communication by the Kita team Oberhöfen disturbs the plans: after the renovation they want to return to their old premises.
Financial hurdles and demand planning
The parish also indicates that it cannot finance a new building and unfortunately does not receive any support from the diocese. Nevertheless, the existing contract between the municipality and the parish remains canceled only by a decision by the local council. The parish emphasizes that the task of sponsorship is out of the question for them. Here, too, there are legal requirements that give parents a right to vote in the selection of support offers and state that further responsibility for early childhood funding lies with the providers of public youth welfare.
