Art in the prime: cheers for 60 years of small gallery Wurzach!
in Bad Waldsee juggle art and currently celebrate at a high level. From July 13, 2023, the fascinating sculptures of Birgit Feil can be admired in the small gallery. This exhibition is characterized by a very special anniversary, because the gallery itself celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The festival for the milestone birthday took place on June 29, 2023 in the Haus am Stadtsee, where gallery owners and sculptor Axel Otterbach could warmly welcome numerous friends, customers and companions.
The small gallery, which was originally founded by Paul Heinrich Ebell in 1965 for the Elisabethenbad Bad Waldsee, has experienced an eventful story since then. From 1975 to 1986, Ewald Schrade headed the gallery, followed by Jörg Eberhard and finally Axel Otterbach, who has steered the gallery's fortunes since 2004 alone after moving to the house on the city lake. The exhibition subject ranges from painting to sculptures to multimedia art.
art that captures human
Birgit Feil, who studied sculpture at the University of the Arts in Berlin between 1988 and 1994, expresses the topic of humanity in a special way with her sculptures. Her work, which she combines with pillows, among other things, address the peculiarities of humans in his everyday situation. This interaction creates groups such as "air cushion seats" and "pillow forklifts", which show a loose, rough manuscript.
But Feil's art goes beyond the plastic. She also deals with photography of anonymous people in urban everyday life, where everyday situations are characterized by fleeting impressions. Your photographs are not only snapshots, but invite you to consider a detailed view and put the figures shown in an artificial space where they look calm and unspectacular.
a trip through contemporary art
reason enough to deal with the current art scene. Contemporary art includes works that were created in and for a certain time. As described arsmundi , it is not just about expressions like an abstract expressionism or pop art, but about reflection and criticism of our society. Today's art wants to create new perspectives, break traditions and show contradictions.
In recent years, digitization has significantly changed access to art. This dynamic art scene is very popular, and art auctions achieve billions in sales annually. Artistic works are often very popular as investments, which fuels discussions about the purity of art and the superficiality of the market.
The anniversary exhibition of the small gallery can be seen until July 9, 2023. This should not be taken for too long and take the opportunity to take a look at the work of Birgit Feil impressively capturing the emotional world of man and also presents a fresh look at our everyday life. The visit is worth it!
