Future of Karlsruher Straße: Workshop on the pedestrian zone on July 16!

In the city of Hockenheim, the signs are on change! On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the city administration invites you to a fascinating workshop on the first floor of the tithe barn. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., all interested citizens, residents and traders are cordially invited to bring their ideas to the redesign of Karlsruher Straße. The aim of the workshop is to make the city center a popular attraction for the Hockenheimer and to increase the attractiveness of the road. The moderation takes over the USP Projekte GmbH, which is already immersed in the topic.

This workshop completes a number of campaign weeks in May, during which Karlsruher Straße was temporarily converted into a pedestrian zone. Participants were able to gain the first impressions of this new cityscape and now bring in these experiences. The focus on the experiences and reflections on temporary redesign are in the focus, as are the presentation of the previous results. Schwetzinger newspaper informed about the importance in the future planning should be included.

new impulses for Hockenheim

The conversion of business roads into pedestrian zones is a topic that is controversial in many cities. Business owners often fear that customer flows could lose weight. The historical development shows that the first pedestrian zone in 1966 in Nuremberg was realized, despite initial resistance. Such areas are now popular places for cultural and commercial activities. Nürnberg this impressively exemplified: there the pedestrian zones are an integral part of the urban life and also attract visitors in the evening and on weekends.

With its approach to the pedestrian zone,

Hockenheim wants to increase the attractiveness of the city center, similarly successful models. The city is very happy about the lively participation in this workshop. By the way, registration is not necessary - just come over and discuss!

Anyone who has questions about the workshop can contact Donald Pape Rese, the business promoter of the city of Hockenheim. It can be reached by email at Wirtschaftsfoerderung@hockenheim.de.
