Burglaries and drunk driving: Police warn Hohenlohe citizens!

In recent days, the Hohenlohekreis region has been confronted with several incidents in the news, ranging from break-ins to traffic-threatening situations. These events once again demonstrate the importance of community vigilance and cooperation.

A break-in at a single-family home in Öhringen caused a stir on Friday. Between 4:45 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., unknown perpetrators climbed over a fence and tried in vain to break down the patio door. Eventually they managed to break a glass door and get inside the house, where jewelry and other valuables were stolen. The Öhringen police are asking for information from witnesses on 07941 930. There was also a break-in in Forchtenberg-Sintreiben on Saturday: The perpetrators broke in at around 6 p.m. through a broken window and searched the rooms, but were probably disturbed by a dog. Here too, the Künzelsau police are looking for witnesses on 07940 9400.

Driving hazards caused by alcohol

There were also reports of drunken driving on Saturday that posed a danger to other road users. A 50-year-old man was driving a VW Golf around 5:20 p.m. and tests showed a breath alcohol level of just under 1.2 per mille. This led to the removal of the driver's license and a blood sample. In another incident, a 51-year-old woman was checked by the police on Wilhelm-Kuhn-Straße after an argument broke out. Her breath alcohol test came back over 1 per mille and she was uncooperative. Investigations were also initiated here.

The legal consequences of such drunk driving should not be underestimated. Even a value of 0.5 to 1.09 ‰ can result in driving bans and fines, as the Fachanwalt Magazin describes.

Serious accidents and safety concerns

On Friday there was a traffic accident near Künzelsau due to medical reasons. A 65-year-old woman came off State Road 1033 around 2:15 p.m. and hit the guardrail. A small child in the vehicle was also able to open the door. The woman was unresponsive and had to be taken to hospital. Her vehicle was no longer drivable and was towed away.

Other traffic accidents also increased, including a rear-end collision in the Scheibengipfel tunnel, where a 25-year-old Audi driver drove into a 30-year-old Mercedes driver. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but there was considerable damage to property.

Another report from the region is particularly alarming: a 56-year-old driver overlooked an oncoming Skoda driver on the B 464, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The road had to be closed for 90 minutes and the total damage is estimated at around 18,000 euros.

Right-wing extremist incidents

Another incident that concerns the police occurred on Friday evening at Willy-Brandt-Platz in Reutlingen, where unknown perpetrators uttered right-wing radical slogans and gave the Hitler salute. This happened near a Christmas market, which meant there were numerous witnesses present. The police are asking for information.

These events show that there is a need for action on various fronts in the region. Community action and support for the police are needed more than ever in these times. Whether burglaries, traffic accidents or harassing incidents – only together can we ensure safety and order.

If you have any information about the break-ins or the above-mentioned incidents, please contact the relevant police station immediately: Öhringen police on 07941 930 or Künzelsau police on 07940 9400.
