Alcoholized driver in Öhringen: VW van stops police!
In the early morning hours of June 13, 2025, a traffic control was carried out in the Hohenlohe district, which drew attention to attentive police officers and an inconspicuous person who caused the accident. At around 7 a.m., the Öhringen police station stopped a VW transporter on Neuenstadter Straße. The 30-year-old driver, who only had a class B driving license, even though he needed the class for the vehicle team, showed a clear smell of alcohol. A first breath alcohol test had shown over 1.3 per thousand, which the police also confirmed. The driver's foreign driver's license was then secured and a blood sample was carried out to determine the exact blood alcohol concentration. It is once more evident that alcohol at the wheel continues to be a serious problem, as is the [Verkehrwacht Bavaria] (https://verkehrswacht-bayern.de/themen/junge-erwachsene/Al alcohol- and-verfahrsicherung) illustrates.
on the same day, but the day before, there was another incident in Mulfingen-Buchenbach. A tractor caught fire shortly before 7 p.m. on the street "Obere Weinberge". Fortunately, residents present stepped in immediately and were able to extinguish the fire before the fire brigade arrived. The fire was probably triggered by overheating and smoke development in the engine compartment, and a cable fire may have been responsible. The property damage is estimated at around 7,000 euros, but there were no injured people. The Mulfingen volunteer fire brigade was on site with seven vehicles and 30 emergency services, which once more shows how important quick action is in such emergencies.
The dangers of alcohol in road traffic
alcohol at the wheel remains one of the main causes of traffic accidents. In 2020 alone there were 4,463 accidents under the influence of alcohol, and the number of unreported cases of non -reported incidents is even higher. According to [Verkehrswacht Bavaria] (https://verkehrswacht-bayern.de/themen/junge-erwachsene/Al alcohol-drogen-und- traffic safety), young drivers between the ages of 18 and 25 are particularly affected by these dangers. To counteract this, preventive measures have been taken for many years. Under the motto "East Bavarian Road Safety Action", awareness of the risks of alcohol and drugs is raised in schools.
The Enlightenment is supported by various events that also include simulators and experience -oriented elements. Constant distractions in road traffic also ensure worrying number of accidents: Over half of the drivers report dangerous situations caused by distraction.
The incidents in Öhringen and Mulfingen-Buchenbach are clear examples of how important it is to be aware of the dangers in road traffic. The police therefore always appeal to road users to act responsibly and to avoid alcohol and distraction. This is the only way to reduce the number of accidents and ensure security on our streets.
