Protest wave in Heilbronn: Activists demand food for everyone!
Heilbronn, Deutschland - There is currently a lot of excitement in Heilbronn. Activists take to the streets to protest the growing concentration of wealth and power. The campaign, which is under the motto "WeiLlidl", started on Friday evening with a spectacular banners' covering at the main train station and has been attracting public attention since then. The actions that last up to and including Sunday are particularly directed against Dieter Schwarz, the owner of Lidl, and the associated criticism of the "supermarket empire" and the "privatization of the public".
The protesters are determined to make their point of view clear. Flyern says: "Food for everyone - instead of profits for a few". It is emphasized that it is not against the Lidl employees, but about the political and economic structures behind the group. The press office of the Schwarz Group has so far not commented on the protest actions and asks for understanding for the lack of an opinion, such as Voice Hin.
Dieter Schwarz, who is considered a "known unknown", avoids public appearances and has nevertheless secured a place at the top of the Forbes list of the richest Germans, followed by Klaus-Michael Kühne and Reinhold Würth. His connection to the city of Heilbronn is deep, and its foundation, the Dieter Schwarz-Foundation gGmbH, has a great influence on local development, especially in the field of education.
A look at Lidl
The Schwarz Group, which includes Lidl, is at the top of the European food retail trade, with over 79,000 employees in around 3,200 branches. The company's beginnings go back to the 1930s when it was founded as a large food range in the Lasty of Swabia. Dieter Schwarz, who took over the Lidl & Schwarz KG from his father, laid the foundation for today's huge company, which is led as a foundation & Co. KG, as on Entrepreneurial compositions
The Dieter Schwarz Foundation, which was transferred to the foundation in 1999, supports numerous education initiatives and has helped almost 700 institutions since its foundation. However, the actions in Heilbronn are now also drawing attention to the social responsibility of the large companies and the ancillary imbalance in society.
While the protests are still in progress, it remains to be seen what effects they will have on the perception of Lidl and Dieter Schwarz themselves. The coming days promise to be exciting.
