Miramar in Weinheim opens after fire: The big comeback is imminent!

Weinheim, Deutschland - The waiting will soon come to an end: After almost half a year, renovation work will open its doors again in Weinheim on June 16, 2025. The restart follows a devastating fire in December 2024, in which a technical defect was responsible for damage of over 20 million euros. Managing Director Lara Steinhart describes the upcoming restart as a real effort for the team and the entire city.

The extensive renovations have it all: The central changing room and sanitary area has been completely redesigned and is now barrier-free. In addition, a new social area for families with changing space was set up. The entrance area and the coffers have also been modernized, and acoustic silencers will ensure a more pleasant atmosphere in the bathroom in the future. From the original renovation date, which was planned for May 2025, one had to deviate because the damage to the changing rooms and sanitary facilities was larger than initially thought.

celebrations for reopening

In order to celebrate the reopening, the Miramar invites you to a so-called "welcome back party" on July 4, 2025, in which the sauna world is to be reopened. The admission prices for the adventure pool remain unchanged, while the sauna tickets are offered by 5 euros cheaper. Another positive aspect: old vouchers keep their validity, so that visitors can come into the newly opened areas even without additional costs.

The family tank bath remains closed until the end of 2025, since an original reconstruction is planned here. The slide tower is expected to be redesigned at 1.8 million euros. In contrast, progress in cleaning work in the family pool and in the sauna are promising. In the future weeks, visitors will be able to experience the restored areas in a new shine.

challenges and outlook

The fire not only left massive damage to the building, but also led to a significant loss of sales of around nine million euros. Before the accident, almost 700,000 people visited the Miramar every year, which was one of the most popular leisure pools in Germany for decades. The managing directors are optimistic that the popular crystal thermal bath will be re-served by December 2025, even if there is still no concrete start of construction.

The cause of the fire, which is due to a defect in a tumble dryer, illustrates the challenges that the operators had to master. Around 200 employees were released during the renovation period; However, hope remained alive that no dismissals had to be issued. Of the former employees, 130 people remain actively on board to make the Miramar bloom again.

The future of the Miramar looks promising despite all the adversities. While the anticipation of the reopening grows, it remains to be seen how the audience reacts to the new circumstances. Visitors can look forward to a newly designed, modern leisure pool that offers a first -class experience.
